  • In Toronto they are using combined heat and power systems. These are used for when the power goes out. Roof top solar systems are also becoming popular. I don’t think freezing rain will be a big problem in the future if more people install these systems. In cities the power lines are underground. So they aren’t a problem.

So there is already a new way to get power without big power lines.
