Local Growers--Farmers

If we eat locally there will be a cut in the amount of carbon released in the atmosphere as there will be no need for prolonged transportation. 

Also, the food will probably be less genetically modified (GMO) as most local farms are privately owned.

Small farms typically use more environmentally friendly practices and will protect local land.
