According to a survey, about 72% of farmers/food producers are concerned about climate change already, so implementing environmental policies will be positively received by the majority of farmers. According to that same survey, 45% of farmers have already changed farming practices to benefit the environment. Being able to convince these food producers to create and partake in environmental policies can be done by showing them that they too will benefit in the long run in terms of their produce and health.
There has also been a study which shows that plants will eventually be damaged in the long term, from invasive species introduced by climate change, to lower livestock production due to thermal stress. This can also help food producers realize that climate change will lose them money in the future and destroy their industry, so they can profit in the long term by implementing policies and being more environmentally friendly.
There are also specifically endangered industries such as maple syrup, which produces money for the food production industry, and through that, countries like Canada. This way, the government can get involved in implementing climate change and environmental policies, as they will also lose money. Government incentive is one of the best ways to get farmers and food producers to comply to environmental policies.
