Climate change affects on harvest periods

Human Rights   Apr 18, 2016 by Cropaars

Over the last 60 years the average annual temperature has increased by 1.4°C. This will cause warmer summer temperatures, which means more evaporation, this will also result in longer dry periods. The average growing season has been and will continue to get longer and warmer. The excess heat will cause there to be less water, which will cause lower crop production. The warmer temperatures will bring more pests, invasive species, weeds, and disease. Global warming will lead to severe heat and droughts in growing periods, as well, there will be changes in drought frequency, this will also cause excessive rain in harvest periods. In conclusion, by the year 2050 the average annual temperature could increase by 2.5°C to 3.7°C.
