What do cities do now to recycle textiles?

Environment   Apr 27, 2016 by Coleen Syra Alburo

In the city of Markham, all their textiles (re-wearable or in poor condition) can be placed inside any Drop off bin. The good stuff is given a new life as a second-hand clothing. The rest of, whether a soiled shirt, ripped jeans or old towels and sheets are recycled. Even stuffed animals, single socks and shoes are repurposed into fibres for wiping cloths, insulation, furniture stuffing and carpet padding. Drop off bins are privately operated and are located throughout the GTA.
