What do cities do now to recycle textiles?

Apr 27, 2016 by Nicole Anne Bannawe

One organization in Calgary collects clothing and textiles but they are sorted and graded depending on their conditions. Any reusable clothing is sent for resale to reatailers internationally. If the item isn't reusable, it can still be recycled. Textile recyclers turn old clothing, shoes and fabrics into new products. Materials are sorted, cleaned and can be turned into wiping rags or shredded down for upholstery stuffing or fibre recycling.

How might we encourage the public to donate their clothes to these types of organizations?
