Oluwakorede Asuni - profile of a Social Entrepreneur

Oluwakorede Asuni is an energetic, driven and talented young Nigerian. A social entrepreneur passionate to see change and prepared to work for it.
‘Korede as he is fondly called by friends and close associates, seeks to add value to organisations (and individuals) by applying his vast skills and understanding in solving organisational and individual HR/IT problems, help position organisations at points of vantage to reach full potential and realise it.

My father, Apostle A. Yemi Asuni one of the most brilliant men living.
A skilled writer, vast IT enthusiast –with specialities in Web Content Management Systems, Web 2.0 tools, SEO/SEF management, networks administration/management among others—a social critic and teacher (with interests in IT in Education), he wrote and self published the book: Students’ Survival Kit – A Performance Guide for Undergraduates in Nigeria (2006) – www.thestudentsurvivalkit.com.
He is the immediate past Executive Director, Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA) Olabisi Onabanjo University branch—www.yaldafrica.org—a group with over 20 branches all over the world and temporarily headquartered at the Harvard University, USA from where it was started in 2004 by some students concerned about Africa’s future and the need for African youth at home and in the diasporas to connect and work towards a better future for Africa. Under his leadership the branch undertook several change projects which included teaching ICTs skills to secondary school students in the university town of Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, free of charge (2006), enlightenment campaigns on the MDGs and what roles there are for ordinary citizens to play (2006). He led a delegation of three to Johannesburg, South Africa in August 2007 to attend the group’s executive summit ’07. He acts at the moment in the capacity of country representative for the group with a charge to improve on the presence of the group in Nigeria.
He also led the Institution of Electrical Engineers –now Institution of Engineering and Technology—Olabisi Onabanjo University, chapter,a UK based charity moderating the practise of Engineering. As the Chair, Local Board of the OOU branch, he led a team of his peers in organising several forums for discussing careers in Engineering and Technology, new technologies and what they portend for the future etc., and participated in all national IET events which included live webcast of annual IET summits.
Oluwakorede Asuni has had close to 12 months experience in training, since he first volunteered and later was employed at Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN), Lagos, where he helped design CaneVillage.com - a business and technology capacity building program for artisans at the cane village in Lagos and managed the Non-Profit Employee Motivation Program (NEMP) a capacity building program for non-profits in Nigeria.
Given his interests in social interventions and his vastness in delivering IT based solutions for businesses and individuals, he has set out to offer his skills to organisations and individuals in order to reach their target audience, optimally –via IT/Online product development, research and consulting, internet advisory services, IT based business support services and online visibility management, in return for some financial considerations to help further his many causes and interests, thereby creating a win-win situation for organisations and individuals who are his patrons (and get quality services at fractions of what it will usually cost them) and his own socially inclined activities (which otherwise may suffer from a lack of funding).

Oluwakorede keeps a day job as a classroom teacher at Government Secondary School, Minna – where he is completing the mandatory One year National Youth Service, spends time interacting and positively challenging young people to excel and spends his evenings and weekends completing assignments and monitor ongoing assignments for his growing list of clients.
