Hi my name is Lene and I am very lucky to be apart of Climate action 150. I am very excited for this, and I really hope we can make a difference. This is a great project and a very important one. It is important that we try to do something.
This meeting was my first meeting, and it was a lot of fun. We started to work on our power point and we talked about what we should put in there. We talked about that the people we want to target is youth, and that we should have more of an opportunity to learn about climate change and more about what we can do to make a difference. Being from Norway, Europe, using renewable energy sources is something that we have always done. We learn about it in school and we see it all around us. Europe uses a lot of renewable energy sources. When I did some research about the project I found out that there is many ways to produce energy. You can use hydro Power, Tidal Power, Biogas etc. There is a lot of countries, especially in Europe, that uses Wind energy. Wind energy is a great way to get energy. Germany, Spain and France are examples on countries that uses wind energy. 21 percent of Spain’s electricity needs comes from wind energy, which is pretty amazing.
I am excited to find out more about renewable energy sources and how they use it in Europe and also how we can do it better. I am also excited to find out about Post secondary Paths in Alberta schools, what opportunities they have to learn about climate change, what jobs they can get, education, etc.

Hey Lene, very interesting post. I enjoyed learning that in Europe you guys have always used renewable energy sources as I was unaware of that before. Good job to you guys for sticking to renewable energy sources! It definitely makes an impact to the environment, perhaps that step will help other countries understand the importance of renewable energy sources. I hope that you can provide some links for us in the future so that we can further educate ourselves. Thanks! Oh and welcome to Climate Action 150, great you have you on board.
There are several sources of renewable energy that can supply a sufficient amount to power Canada’s infrastructure and some less known methods which don’t create a lot of energy, but renewable energy is renewable energy better than using coal. Here’s an example of floor tiles being used to power a portions of a mall from kinetic energy
Hi Lene,
I am curious to know how the learning around climate change or renewable energy sources is done in Europe compared to Canada. Do you think that there should be a climate change program in the Canadian school curriculum for all students?
Hi there, Lene!
Welcome to the project. We sure are excited to have you working with us as well!
I'm excited to see what you find in your comparisons of Canadian vs European uses of renewable energies! I read a statistic somewhere that stated that 98% of Norway's energy is produced by renewable sources. It might be interesting to hear your perspective: what's weird or different in terms of your energy usages in Canada, etc.
I am also excited to hear what you come up with in terms of the feasibilty of renewable energies in Canada and the possible barriers, etc.
Here's something to think about during your Inquiry: http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/renewable-energy...
Keep up the great work!
