We are focusing on invasive species in Prince Edward County and how they are affected by Climate Change. Invasive species are organisms that invade, disturb, and destroy ecosystems. Our question was, "How are invasive species affected by Climate Change?".
First, we researched. We scanned many articles and websites and obtained these facts. Fortunately, our group leader, Amanda had close relations to a Great Lakes Research Scientist for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. He provided our group with a surplus of information and statistics. We also contacted and interviewed two Research Scientists from the Harkness Laboratory of Fisheries Research. Therefore, we were able to gain both primary and secondary research from reliable sources.
We learned many new things. I admit that I did not know much of the research we gained about Climate Change and the invasive species that are currently lurking in the waters of Prince Edward County. To summarize our research, Climate Change is making it easier for invasive species to both adapt and exist in ecosystems other than their own. Climate Change is also making it more difficult for native species to survive in their ecosystems. This is having a great impact on our environment and our economy. (Fact: zebra mussels cost Canadian industries 7.3 billion dollars annually.) Invasive species can reduce productivity in fishing, agriculture, and forestry. They can have an effect on both human and animal health. Basically, Climate Change is making it easier for invasive species to do all these things. This needs to end.
I believe our question is a great one because it links two topics (invasive species and Climate Change) that many wouldn't put together. Our answers provide proof that Climate Change is not only having an impact on land but in our precious waters too.

So do you think that the invasive species, by destroying the ecosystems, is also affecting climate change, making it easier for more invasive species to come and start the cycle over again?

Your group is lucky to have a surplus of information on your topic. I am wondering how you dealt with all the information.
"7.3 billion dollars" ... there is a number that might get Premier Wynne's attention. I know it got mine.
