Climate Change and the Production of Maple Syrup (Blog #1)

Apr 10, 2016 by Lyndsay Sheedy

The predicted climate change will affect the outcome of the production of maple syrup because of the decrease in the probability of snow and a tiny increase for precipitation for spring and fall could have positive impacts. However, the increase in precipitation in spring and fall could be over powered by greater evaporation caused by high temperatures and low precipitation during the summer. Climate change could impact wind speed, frequency, and direction, which are all considered to be important factors in maple syrup production.
