benefits if local food production

Apr 18, 2016 by Delaney Madore

During our research of our inquiry question i learned that it is hard for local farmers to be able to have their meet inspected and put into stores and schools. I got this information when we went on our trip to Burt Farms here on Manitoulin Island. I also learned that some benefits are that you know exactly where your food is coming from and how they are treated, you can reduce the amount of fossil fuels used because you don't have to transport your animals very far and then you don't have to have it shipped here, we would be boosting our economy and helping out our neighbours, not putting money into a huge company. The conclusion i came to is that growing and selling local food is a great way to lessen pollution, help the environment, and keep our earth healthy.
