How does climate change's ability to change surface temperature of water have an impact of fish in Ontario?

Apr 21, 2016 by Jaygur

Climate changes affects everyone and everything. I focused on how climate change affects surface water and how it affects fish in Ontario. The worse Climate Change gets the shorter the winters will be, and if the winters are shorter, earlier snow melt, less ice cover on lakes, changing rainfall patterns, changes in water’s movement between air, soil, plants and bodies of water. Also there may be less water available for renewable energy production and waterways. The weather will also become more extreme which may result in more frequent flooding, erosion, shoreline damage, infrastructure failures and decreased water quality due to increased runoff and debris. Change in surface water temperatures can damage fish growth and reproduction, to put this into perspective: Increase by 1ºC results in decrease of chance of survival at hatch by 1.5 time and Increase by 3ºC results in decrease of chance of survival at hatch by 20.1 times. One solution is to dramatically cut down transportation fuel. You can move closer to work, use mass transit, or switch to walking, cycling or some other mode of transport that does not require anything other than human energy. Releasing sulfate particles in the air to mimic the cooling effects of massive volcanic eruption, fertilizing the oceans with iron or other nutrients to enable plankton to absorb more carbon. The speed of climate change depends on us, are you willing to help?
