How climate change affects fish in Ontario.

Environment   Apr 21, 2016 by Andrew Nkomo

Problem: Most fish species’ growth and reproduction are strongly influenced by water temperatures. Water temperatures in the great lakes have risen due to milder and shorter winter caused by climate change. Also changes to water quality, Water levels and ice cover may affect the type and number of fish in lakes and rivers .This could result in fewer cold water species ,Some fish species like the lake sturgeon could disappear from ontario completely.

Solution: reducing greenhouse gas emissions is the key to solving global climate change. A major way these gases can get into the atmosphere is when people burn coal, oil, and natural gas for energy. Everyone uses energy everyday, and everyone can be part of the solution, but don't forget that climate change is already happening. Were seeing some of the impacts now, and we will experience more in the future. So we need to prepare and plan for the changes we know are coming.
