How does climate change's ability to change surface temperature of water have an impact of fish in Ontario?

Fish are impacted by climate change in many ways, especially in our area because we are so close to all of the Great Lakes so we are surrounded by water. Climate change affects the water temperature, which can be truly devastating to our fish populations.

To put this into perspective:

- A rise in 1ºC can result in a decrease in the number of eggs that live at hatch by 1.5 times

- A rise in just 3ºC can lead to a decrease in the number of eggs that live at hatch by 20.1 times

- This is a great statistic to make you think about how the change in water temperature can really affect fish populations and how they grow and live, and it decides whether or not our fish population grows or declines

 What can we do to help stop it?

 Some ideas that I think might be very helpful include:

- The government supporting a company that wants to build a subdivision that runs on strictly clean energy sources, such as Solar, or Wind power. The government could maybe fund this company or say that they will pay for a certain amount of the cost for what it takes to build the subdivision

- Possibly provide a rebate to any electric car that someone buys

- The government could also provide a rebate to people that have installed Solar panels to their roofs or somewhere nearby so they can use that energy
