Here is what I have found about the tick and deer population increasing:
- Earlier springs means ticks don't have to stay in hibernation as long. The less amount of time they have to stay in hibernation means the more time ticks have to reproduce.
- If it is cold outside ticks will not reproduce.
- More ticks = more risk of Lyme disease
- 1/21 car crashes are caused by wildlife crossing the road
- Over a 6 year period (1996-2001) there was a 50% increase in accidents involving wildlife.
My Questions:
1. How would increased deer population impact humans?
2. What will climate change mean for Lyme disease? (how will this affect humans?)
3. If the temperature increases will the tick population?
4. If the temperature increases will that cause forest fires thus increasing the deer population?
5. How will climate change impact animals in Ontario by 2050?

Home brew tick repellent recipes are becoming popular - I have received some in email lately!
Thats a good point. Given the changes with the tick populations, vets will have to change the ways they control lyme disease among dogs and cats.
