Climate Affecting Water Flow (Continued)

Environment   Apr 10, 2016 by Mark McGregor

In my research, I discovered that our climate has drastically changed the timing of water flow in our region, and is predicted to continue to change exponentially. Our water flow levels are slightly decreasing, due to the increased evaporation (caused by increase in temperature [average]), and that our annual water flow level peaks are shifting (occurring earlier each year), due to the change in snow melting and falling (prolonged snow fall, later melting). I found most of this information through various articles by Gord Mountenay, and using the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority stream gauge graphs. The information brought me to the conclusion that our climate is seriously affecting the timing and water flow levels each year, and changes must be made to combat the ever-changing climate.
