Carbon and Gas taxing

Environment   Apr 11, 2016 by William Wynne Wolff

I am confident that one of the more direct and effective courses of action to take to limit emissions, and therefore the effects of global warming is carbon and gas taxing. In theory, taxing vehicles and industrial emissions would eventually force people to change their habits regarding driving and production.

I located evidence of its efficiency by looking at Britain's gas taxing policy and British Colombia's carbon taxing plan. Britain's taxing forced the citizens to drive smaller and more efficient vehicles. British Colombia's carbon taxing plan helps to limit emissions.

The only foreseeable issue with implementing such a plan is convincing politicians to put the environment before the budget, a near insurmountable challenge.

Carbon taxing is the big tool that government has to address climate change. There are different  methods of doing this. We need to know what Ontario might do with carbon tax. There is talk about Ontario using cap and trade.
