Disease In Fish Due To Heavy Rainfall Causing Algal Blooms

My proposed solution to the issue of disease in fish due to heavy rainfall from climate change would be to put standards on the products of large companies regarding how environmentally safe they are. If the standards are not met, the provincial government should have the right to fine the company. I understand the power and influence large corporations have on our government and our environment and it is my belief that things with so much power to negatively affect our climate and ecosystems should be held to a higher standard and be accountable for their actions.

For example, a car company which has monopolies in oil and fuel, may want to make cars which are heavy on fuel, and therefore hard on the environment. Although this is a great idea for the wealth of the company, it is a terrible idea for the earth and all of us on it. The government could make fuel output standards on cars being manufactured, and put fines in place for when these standards are not met. This would not only help to decrease carbon dioxide emissions, but would also increase pressure on a company of this sort to find greener, more efficient ways to manufacture and produce cars. This would decrease carbon dioxide emissions, which would contribute to thinning the layer of greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere, cooling the earth down over time. A cooler atmosphere has less tolerance for water and therefore will help to reverse the heavy rainfall we have been seeing as a result of climate change, deterring algal blooms and saving fish in the process.
