Freezing Rain Question #2 & answer

Apr 7, 2016 by McKenna

The weather modelling projections show that freezing rain will increase by 50% in 2050, and have had events last more than 6 hours. How are ways that we could unfreeze certain things such as the pipes that our clean water comes from?

Way to unfreeze your pipes is to use a pressure washer and shoot hot water through the hose and down their main pipes. It roughly takes 6 hours, and the water running again. Others ways to unfreeze is to leave the faucets slightly open, and then open the faucet to the frozen pipe. Then open any nearby working faucets to a trickle, use hair dryer or heat gun. Apply heat tape and heat the surrounding area, add salt to frozen drains. Wrap pipe in hot towels. Roughly in a couple of hours, the pipe should be unfrozen.
