  1. If the climate change affects this area negatively, could we grow crops up north? Or would the soil not be sufficient?
  • Crops wouldn’t be easily grown up north. To make good fields it would take too much work, there wouldn’t be enough good soil to grow anything beneficial. Instead of putting money into trying to make more fields it would be better to invest in genetically modified plants to better resist the environment.

2.

  1. The rain and moisture increases in certain parts of the year but, would the dry times become dryer?
  • The regions that are wet are likely to even more wet. Areas on the dry side are more likely to get drier. Areas of drought are likely to be increased and the areas that do get drought are likely to lose as much as 30% of the water in lakes and rivers. Areas that remain wet would get long dry periods in between extreme rain events. Gananoque would experience this. Gananoque’s dry periods would become drier and wet periods would become more severe.

3.

  1. How would animals be affected by climate change?
  • Farm animals react to heat by becoming more stressed. Animals that are stressed react differently. They will become more agitated and more likely to try to hurt the farmers if they get spooked. Animals will be less fit and be more acceptable to disease or getting sick. They will produce less because their energy will be used for cooling down. Animals will not grow properly and heat can lead to death. Farmers will have to spend lots of money to make their buildings cooler.
