The place where food comes from is a huge factor. It takes 1200 km for the average meat to travel from the farm to you. Food grown locally will require less transportation. Thus leading to less transportation emissions, It will also support the local economy if you buy the food from the local farmers. Also since the less distance the food travels, so does the need for refrigeration and processing to reduce spoilage. Overall eating locally will reduce transportation emissions  and the energy needed for refrigeration and processing.

how might we be able to incite the public to buy locally, or educate them about the consequences of buying from other areas?
